In 1959, Francisco Barbeito Castro set up Cristalería Pontevedresa S.A., laying the foundations for a family business that would triumph, thanks to a remarkable ability to face the unknown.

A passion for unexplored technologies became a determining factor for the future of glass. In 1960, a silver nitrate solution was patented; in 1989, the first line of flat tempered glass was produced in northern Spain and, in 2015, cutting-edge technologies for ultra-thin curved tempered glass were launched to meet the contemporary needs of industry and architecture.

On this journey through the fascinating history of glass, the workforce has been totally committed to finding pioneering solutions to the challenges raised by more than 5,000 client glass professionals, in industry and architecture from all over Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.

In 2015, Pontevedresa looked to the future. To continue revolutionizing the world of glass and to ensure smooth and accurate innovation for clients, the company underwent major restructuring. The result, the Pontevedresa Group. Two specialist brands now operate under the new corporate structure: Ceptual and Pontevedresa Industrial. These brands will provide solutions for the construction industry and the industrial sector, offering greater adaptability to market requirements.

Each of these brands capitalizes on the experience of 57 years, while achieving an unprecedented level of focus in the sector. The technical support teams, I+D departments and 20,000 square metres of manufacturing facilities signal the way to a new era for glass.
